Both Arya and Pandey are the natives of neighbouring localities under the Luxa police station. Before the plaintiffs received the alleged threat calls, former civil judge of Varanasi Ravi Kumar Diwakar also received such calls. It was Diwakar who ordered a court-commissioned survey in the case of women seeking rights to worship in Shringar Gauri temple. Pandey lodged a complaint at the Luxa police station, said station officer Anil Sahu. According to the complaint, Pandey received two calls from international numbers.
