Pratapgarh (UP): A 70-year-old man and four others have been booked for gang-rape following an order by the inspector general of police (Prayagrag range) Rakesh Singh, official sources said on Wednesday. Singh asked the superintendent of police to investigate the incident and submit a report as early as possible. The father of the gang-rape survivor lodged a complaint against four persons, accusing them of holding his minor daughter hostage for 15 days at various places.

According to the complainant, a youth from Kunda who was studying with his daughter at a local centre had offered her tea laced with sedatives. When the girl fell unconscious, she was gangraped. Besides the youth, his brothers and an elderly person had violated her, the complainant said. They kept his daughter at separate locations and freed her on July 26.
