5 of family dies after fire breaks out in multi-story building
Moradabad (UP): A fire broke out in a three-story building at Asatalpura locality in Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh, killing five members of a family and injuring seven on Thursday night, the police said on Friday. Those who were killed were identified as Ebda (five), Zubia (seven), Umeya (12), Shama Parveen (36) and Qamar Jahan (75). The fire erupted in a godown housed in the building which belongs to Irshad, a scrap dealer.

When the incident occurred, the family of Irshad’s son Ayaz and some of his relatives were present in the house. On getting information, fire tenders rushed to spot and doused the flames after two hours. The fire officials said that the incident occurred because of a short circuit. Nevertheless, an investigation into the case is going on and the cause of the fire will be ascertained only after the probe is over, the officials said.
