Noida (UP): Criminals seem to have scant regard for law in Uttar Pradesh, which was apparent in Noida on Wednesday when a 20-year-old man raped a 12-year-old girl in broad daylight on her way to school. The police arrested the criminal who tried to escape and clashed with them by hurling bricks. According to reports, in the morning, when the girl was going to school, the youth lured her to an isolated area in Sector 32 and violated her.

When she related the story to her parents, they lodged a complaint at the police station. An official said that the criminal was arrested and taken to a hospital for medical examination. But when the cops, together with the criminal, were returning to the police station in a van, he jumped out of it and ran towards an isolated area. As the policemen began to chase him, the criminal hurled stones at them and that forced the cops to shoot in his leg, the official said. The rapist was caught and rushed to a hospital.
