Meerut’s Rupal Choudhary to participate in Senior National Athletics Championship

After creating a great history record by winning the junior athletic championship, Meerut’s very own Rupal Choudhary is set to make a comeback and participate in the Senior National Athletic Championship . The championship will be held in Gujarat starting 30th September and will go on till 6th Oct 2022.

The event will see participation from around the country where national players will show their skills in the national tournament. Indian quarter-miler Rupal Chaudhary won the bronze medal in the women’s 400m at the World Athletics U20 Championships 2022 in Cali, Colombia in August this year.

Not just this, the 17 year old Rupal Chaudhary also became the first Indian athlete to win two medals in a single edition of the world championships. She participated in 4x400 mixed relay and won the silver medal for India with a new Asian record on Tuesday along with Priya Mohan, Bharath Sridhar and Kapil. After Him Das, Rupal Chaudhary is the second Indian who won a medal in the women's 400m gold in the 2018 edition of the games in Finland.

Currently, Rupal is preparing for her upcoming sports championship to be held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. In an interview with BuzinessBytes, she said that she is preparing to the best of her capacity but the national championship results will tell how she fairs. Post the national event, Rupal will begin her training for the Asian Games 2023.

When asked about how a regular day looks like for her, she shared that her day usually begins at 3:15 am and she heads to the empty tracks for her practice. She also visits Delhi twice a week for her regular practice and wakes up at the same time to make it on time. The reason of the frequent visits to Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium of Delhi is because of the synthetic tracks which are not available in Meerut. She practices under coach Vishal who is responsible for taking her to Delhi and also drops her back to Meerut after the practice. She belongs to Meerut and she makes everyone in the city proud with her power-packed performance.

We wish her nothing but the best for her future endeavors!
