MG Changemakers Season 4 applauds Chandani Khandelwal

Odisha born Chandni Khandelwal had always been concerned over the usage of plastics, especially when it comes to packaging. She was in college when her quest to provide eco-friendly packaging began, which empowered her to embrace her artistic side and work with sustainable and eco-friendly products. Today, Chandani's unwavering determination to success supports more than 1000 artisans and allows her to offer more aesthetically pleasing and affordable products through Ecoloop. The artisans, who are mostly women, are specially trained to create plastic free packaging products. Currently, the startup makes gift packaging out of natural materials such as sabai grass, palm leaves, paper mache, bamboo, and others. It manufactures about 20 different products, including baskets, trays, and boxes. The startup is also developing a sustainable gifting experience using materials such as rice straws to replace styrofoam boards used in packaging. They also make boxes for baked goods like cakes and cookies out of bamboo and leaves. In the near future, the startup plans to explore more natural raw materials, such as various types of leaves, to introduce packaging accessories made from wildflowers, corn husks, and so on.

MG Changemakers is a community initiative that recognizes and honors the determined and courageous women who defy all odds to make a difference in society through innovation. This year, Season 4 of MG Changemakers directs a special focus on sustainability and highlights MG’s undying commitment to creating a positive society for all.
