The ED officials raided the residence of Raut, a close aide of former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, on Sunday. And after questioning him for several hours, they detained him. On hearing the plea of Venegaonkar, the judge said, “I am of the opinion that ED custody for the accused till Aug 4 will suffice.” Arguing on behalf of Raut his lawyer Ashok Mundargi said it was a political vendetta.
