New Delhi: As the contest for the post of Congress president is heating up, hectic lobbying has begun in the party on the issue of Rajasthan leadership. The party leadership has asked former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot to stay in Jaipur and meet all legislators till a final decision is taken, party sources said on Friday.

On getting party high command’s directive, Pilot who was accompanying Rahul Gandhi rushed to Jaipur and is waiting for the party’s decision. After meeting Rahul Gandhi on Friday, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Geholt told reporters that the former had declined to contest the party president’s election. He quoted Rahul Gandhi as saying that none from the Gandhi family would become the Congress head.

According to Gehlot, he will soon file nomination, because it is the need of the hour to make the opposition strong. Gehlot, who wanted to carry on as Chief Minister as well as wished to head the party said that the party top brass would decide his successor as chief minister.

Pilot is a strong contender for the chief ministership, but CP Joshi and BD Kall have also thrown their hat in the ring. The politics in the Congress has suddenly become interesting. Meanwhile, the party’s Bharat Jodo Yatra entered 17 day on Friday.
