One-day state mourning in India on Sunday
New Delhi: The government of India has declared one-day state mourning on Sunday as a mark of respect to Queen Elizabeth-II. She died on Thursday. An official order said, “Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, passed away on September 8, 2022. As a mark of respect to the departed dignitary, the government of India has decided that there will be one-day state mourning on September 11 through India.”
On the day of mourning, the tricolour will be flown at half-mast throughout the country on all buildings. The country will not host any entertainment event. Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have mourned the demise of the Queen.
