Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is grappling with floods because of heavy rain that lashed the eastern part of the state. The weather office has predicted that the state will witness another spell of heavy rain in the next 48 hours.

The officials in the regional weather office in Bhopal, capital of Madhya Pradesh, said that a cyclonic circulation prevailed over the northern part of Bay Bengal. It suggests that eastern part of the state may receive another spell of heavy rain, the officials said, adding that the spell is set to last till August 31. Incessant rain during the past few days flooded various parts of Vidisha, Sagar, Bhind, Morena and Sheopur districts. Most of the rivers in the state are overflowing. The roads and bridges have been submerged, posing a challenge to the people living in low-lying areas.
