Chowdhury has already Apologised, says Sonia
New Delhi: As the members of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made a hue and cry in the Lok Sabha demanding an apology from party president Sonia Gandhi for Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s remark on President Droupadi Murmu, Gandhi said that Choudhury had already tendered an apology. Union minister Smriti Irani said that Gandhi should apologise to the country, tribal people for this insult to the President.
The Lok Sabha was adjourned amidst uproar over the issue on Friday. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, too, criticised the Congress for calling the President “Rashtrapatni.” Chowdhury, however, said that he had already tendered an apology saying it was a “slip of the tongue” but the BJP is trying to make it an issue.
