NewDehi: Election strategist Prashant Kishor had recently announced that he would undertake a 3,000-km padyatra from Champaran on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Along with the announcement of this journey, he also gave the slogan of 'Jan Suraj'. Now RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has also made a similar announcement and said that he will march on foot from Patna to Delhi to demand caste census by Modi govt. Tejashwi Yadav said, 'We have been demanding caste-wise census for a long time in Bihar. With the efforts of RJD and its leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, the state assembly twice passed a resolution in support of the demand for caste census.

Tejashwi Yadav said, 'Due to our efforts, leaders of all other parties of Bihar also met PM Narendra Modi regarding this demand. Now we feel there is no option left but to hit the road. We are planning to undertake a padyatra from Patna to Delhi for the caste census. It is believed that through this issue, an attempt is being made by the RJD to reach out to the OBC sections so that they can be mobilized for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and then the 2025 assembly elections. Even before this, Tejashwi Yadav has been raising this issue vocally.

Last year, under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar, leaders of all the parties of Bihar met PM Narendra Modi. The demand for conducting caste census was raised in this meeting. Leaders of 10 parties including BJP were involved in this delegation. Tejashwi Yadav said that the poor would benefit from the caste census being conducted. Now once again raising this issue on behalf of Tejashwi is in a way an attempt to put pressure on the Nitish government of Bihar. Apart from this, it can become an issue at the national level as well.

Even though Prashant Kishor's name is not much discussed in the public in Bihar, his entry into mainstream politics has definitely created a stir. Actually, Prashant Kishor knows how he can stay in the news. He did not go even after discussions of going to Congress for a long time. Now he has given the slogan of 'Jan Suraj' and has told the rule of Nitish Kumar and Lalu Yadav as the reason for the backwardness of Bihar. It is believed that Prashant Kishor can start the politics of Bihar on issues like employment and development.
