While addressing the media, Professor Antonella Contin orated that she believes that an understanding of how natural hazards affect the vast and diverse Indian landscape due to climate change is crucial. She notes that Indian cities have the problem of the deep welfare gap between town and country. The countryside should turn into the city which is not possible if we want to achieve sustainability. The key is to determine which growth model can allow us to preserve the structuring values of the past city but integrate them with the new green-grey infrastructure of the Metropolis.
And, that is the Metropolitan Architecture Project’s aim that includes new built form types and New urban-rural linkage pattern definition, questioning knowledge, methodologies, and tools needed to engage with unfamiliar events, temporalities, with landscapes beyond conventional lines of sight.
Prof. Contin has several research publications including “Smart Global Megacities: Collaborative Research Tokyo, Delhi, Mumbai, Lagos, New York, Hong Kong- Shenzhen, Calcutta, and Bangalore” delves into comparative study of smart cities in India and abroad.
