SportsTeam India now ready to play day-night test in abroad

Date:

New Delhi: BCCI Chairman Saurabh Ganguly, who started the Pink Ball Test in India, on Sunday made it clear that Team India will now play the day-night test abroad . BCCI President and former Indian captain Ganguly today told the media that Team India is now ready to play Day Night Test against Australia and England too. Earlier in November last year, the Indian team played their first day-night Test match against Bangladesh.

After becoming the Chairman of the Board, Saurabh Ganguly also played an important role in turning the last match of the two-Test series against Bangladesh into a day-night test. Ganguly first persuaded Indian captain Virat Kohli for this and then convinced the Bangladesh Cricket Board to play the pink ball test.

Earlier, the Indian team had always backed out of playing the pink ball test. In the year 2018-19, Cricket Australia (CA) offered him to play a test pink ball of the 4 Test match series, but then Team India pulled his hand back, stating the reason for not having experience with this ball. The Pink Ball Test was introduced for the first time in 2015. Then Australia and New Zealand played the first pink ball (day-night) test match. After this, countries like Pakistan, West Indies, South Africa, England, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe etc. started the Pink Ball Test but Team India did not accept this new format of Test before the end of 2019.

When India played their first Pink Ball Test against Bangladesh, England and Australia welcomed the first and hoped that now Team India will be ready to play the Test match with Pink Ball against them too. India is scheduled to go for a Test series on a tour to Australia later this year and Cricket Australia is keen to play the series as a Test day-night with India.
