Wellington: Playing his first Test for New Zealand, 6-foot-8-inch-tall Kyle Jamieson, on the third day of the Wellington Test, on Sunday, played a strong knock of 44 off 45 balls to set many new records.
Jamieson, New Zealand’s longest player, hit 4 sixes in his innings and equaled Australia’s Michael Clarke’s record of hitting the most sixes in a debut test. Jamieson also broke the 55-year-old record of leading the No. 9 batsman in a debut match for New Zealand, which was made by Graham Vivian in 1965 against India.
Jamieson had also done wonders in bowling earlier in this Test and took 4 wickets for 39 runs and contributed to the Indian team to 165 runs. Jamieson made his memorable Test debut on the first day of the match, dismissing Pujara and Kohli within just 10 balls.
The 25-year-old Jamieson made his international debut in the ODI match against India on 8 February 2020 and was already the man of the match. In response, New Zealand scored 348 runs in the first innings to take a huge lead of 183 runs over India. In response, India scored 144 for 4 wickets on the third day and they are still 39 runs behind New Zealand.
