New Delhi: Former Team India coach Gary Kirsten has revealed that Sachin Tendulkar was ready to retire from cricket in 2007 itself. In the World Cup 2007, India were eliminated from the group stage, which Tendulkar was deeply saddened.
Kirsten said in the TalkSports podcast, “My coaching with Sachin was fantastic. If I talk about the Tendulkar of the time, when I came to India, he made up his mind to retire. According to him, he did not bat on his order. He was not enjoying cricket at all. “
Kirsten added, “After 3 years, Sachin scored 18 centuries in international cricket. He played in the order he liked and we won the World Cup (2011).
