IPL-13: DC beat KKR by 18 runs in another Sharjah thriller

Sharjah: In the Indian Premier League 2020, the 16th match of the season between KKR and Delhi Capitals was played in Sharjah, with Delhi winning by 18 runs. Batting first after losing the toss in the match, Delhi scored 228 runs losing 4 wickets in 20 overs. Chasing the target, KKR could only manage 210 runs losing 8 wickets in 20 overs.

Batting first, Delhi had a great start. Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan shared a 56-run partnership in 5.5 overs. Dhawan scored 26 runs in 16 balls with the help of 2 fours and the same number of sixes. After this, Prithvi Shaw partnered 73 runs in 41 balls for the second wicket with captain Shreyas Iyer. Shaw completed the sixth fifty of his IPL career with a six. He scored 66 runs in 41 balls with the help of 4 sixes and the same number of fours.

Iyer, with Rishabh Pant, collected 72 runs for the third wicket to take Delhi to 200. Pant returned to the pavilion after scoring 38 runs in 17 balls with 6 boundaries. However, Iyer could not complete his century. He scored an unbeaten 88 in 38 balls with the help of 6 sixes and 7 fours. On behalf of the opposition team, Andre Russell took 2, Varun Chakraborty-Kamlesh Nagerkoti took 1-1 wickets.

KKR got the blow on the 8th ball as Sunil Narine (3). Subsequently, Shubman Gill shared a 64-run partnership from 41 balls for the second wicket. Gill returned to the pavilion after scoring 28 runs off 22 balls.

After this the fall of wickets started. The team lost big wickets in two consecutive balls of the 13th over as Nitish Rana (58) and Dinesh Karthik (6) from where the team’s defeat began to appear. Harshal Patel, however, missed a hat-trick.

A total of 47 runs were scored in the 16th and 17th overs between Eoin Morgan-Rahul Tripathi and once again the hopes of the fans were tied, but Morgan was caught out trying to hit a six in 18.2 overs. A total of 78 runs were shared between the two. Morgan was dismissed for 44 from 18 balls with the help of 5 sixes and 1 four. Rahul Tripathi, with the help of 6 boundaries in 16 balls, scored 36 runs. From Delhi, Enrich Nortje took 3, while Harshal Patel took 2.
