New Delhi: The much-awaited series proposed between India and Australia later this year is now seen as a cloud of crisis. After the IPL, the Indian team has to go to Australia to play the series in all three formats against the Kangaroo team, where the first limited overs format series will be played between the two teams, after which India has to play 4 Test matches against Australia.
Meanwhile, according to reports, Cricket Australia’s official broadcasting company Channel 7 has expressed its displeasure over the schedule of the series and demanded a reduction in its annual fees from Cricket Australia.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Channel 7 had approached the Australian Chamber (ACICA) over its ongoing dispute with Cricket Australia over payments, following which the matter took a new turn. Channel 7 wants an independent analyst to charge the matches for the Australian Summer, while the board has refused to revise its charges.
It is noteworthy that the matches for which Channel 7 is seeking to determine the price include India’s 4-match Test series with Australia and the Big Bash League.
Channel 7 demands that Cricket Australia start the limited-overs series against India in January instead of the season, besides Channel 7 being unhappy with the schedule of the India-Australia Test series. He wants the board to change its decision in which it has decided to hold only one Test match before Christmas and the remaining Test matches in January, so people return from the holidays.
According to a Sydney Morning Herald report, a Cricket Australia spokesperson said, “CA has received a letter from Channel 7 informing it that it is awaiting a response from ACICA.” Cricket Australia wants to work closely with its partners for the successful and safe hosting of women’s and men’s international and domestic cricket.
