Odense: Rising Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen on Tuesday progressed to the second round after beating France’s Christo Popov in the opening round of Denmark Open, which restarted the international calender after a seven-month-long hiatus due to the COVID-19.
Lakshya produced a clinical performance to outclass Popov 21-9 21-15 in a match that lasted for 36 minutes.
The 19-year-old Indian, will next face the winner of the match between Belgium’s Maxime Moreels and Denmark’s Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus.
Denmark Open Super 750 event is the only event happening this year with BWF forced to cancel and postpone the multiple events.
