New Delhi: India’s wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been honored with the ‘Player of the Month’ award for the month of January by the ICC rewarding him for his outstanding performance in the Australian tour. England captain Joe Root and Ireland batsman Paul Sterling were also nominated for the award. The ICC has started this award from this year, in which it is chosen the best cricketer of the month. The ICC informed fans while sharing it on their Twitter account. Apart from this, he has also congratulated Pant for winning this special award.

The 23-year-old Pant hit a 97-run knock against Australia in Sydney which helped India draw the match, while his unbeaten 89 in Brisbane helped India win the historic series. Expressing happiness over the award, Pant said that it is the biggest prize for any player to contribute to the team’s victory, but such an initiative motivates the youth to improve themselves.

He said, “I dedicate this award to every member of Team India who contributed to our win in Australia. I would also like to thank all the fans who voted for me. ” On Pant winning the award, ICC Voting Academy member and former Pakistan captain Rameez Raja said, “Pant played these two innings under pressure and facing different challenges.” He showed his variety of skills in drawing and winning matches. During this time he showed an amazing mindset. “
