Shreyas Iyer was injured in an attempt to stop Johnny Bairstow’s shot during the first ODI on 23 March in Pune. He then groaned with pain. Due to this, he was left out of the remaining matches against England and also from the IPL. Iyer, the captain of Delhi Capitals in the IPL, can stay out for four months. He has also signed with Lancashire but he is unlikely to play for the English county team in the ODI tournament starting July 23. In place of Iyer, Delhi Capitals have appointed Rishabh Pant as their captain.
