Bhopal: The police on Friday claimed to have arrested a man Ankit Yadav for liquidating an RTI activist Ranjeet Soni in Vidisha district of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, official sources said.

The police said that three contractors gave money to Yadav aka Tunda to kill Soni. Contractors Jaswant Raghuwanshi, Ash Kumar and Naresh Sharma were taken into custody in connection with the incident.

Additional superintendent of police Sameer Yadav said that the incident occurred when Soni had gone to collect some documents from the Janpad office. He was 36-year-old. Scarcely Soni stepped out of his home when he was waylaid and shot at from a close range. The police reached the culprits with the help of CCTV footage.
