New Delhi: India has made it clear that our priority is to get the wanted economic fugitive and absconders of India living in the United Kingdom back. India has spoken directly to Britain about this and said that it should ensure the return of economic criminals of India living in Britain. In the talks between PM Narendra Modi and UK PM , Boris Johnson there was a detailed discussion on bringing back criminals like Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya. Even the British PM has said that the UK government has ordered the extradition of Mallya and Nirav Modi but we want them back to India for trials.

Giving information about the talks between the heads of states of the two countries, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said that PM Modi clearly said in front of Johnson that he wants to bring back economic fugitive criminals and run the case under the country’s constitution and law. India has also made it clear that it is very serious about this. During this conversation, India also mentioned those people who come in its priority. 

India has also raised this issue with Britain at various levels. Shringla said that India wants to prosecute these accused under the law of their country.

According to Shringla, PM Johnson has given a positive answer to India’s demand. He said that he would do whatever he could about it. Let us inform that apart from Mallya and Nirav Modi, due to Mehul Choksi, the public sector banks of the country have suffered a loss of more than 22585 crores. This information was given by the government in Parliament last month. Boris Johnson said during the press conference on India’s demand that the matter of handing over Nirav Modi, Vijay Mallya to India is entangled in the legal technicalities of British rules and regulations.
