Date:

Lucknow: Speculations regarding the new state BJP president in UP may end soon. As per the party sources, the name for the UP BJP President has been almost finalised and it may get declared by the first week of May. At present, there is an internal discussion going on inside the party on whether the Dalit face should be made the president or once again the party will bet on the Brahmin face.

The national leadership is meeting the prospective faces of UP BJP President post one by one. In the past, Vidyasagar Sonkar, Satish Gautam, Bhanu Pratap Verma and Subrata Pathak have also met the top leadership. At the same time, the names of UP BJP general secretary Ashwani Tyagi, BJP MP from Basti Harish Dwivedi, Dinesh Sharma, Mahesh Sharma, and Shrikant Sharma are also in discussion. By the first week of May, the announcement of the name of the president is believed to be fixed.

If we look at the last Lok Sabha elections, the party has shown trust in the Brahmin face, while there is no such Dalit face in the BJP, on whom Dalits can shower vote for BJP. Party strategists believe that by the first week of May.

Kannuaj MP Subrata Pathak’s name also came to the fore for the UP state president, since he was successful in taming Akhilesh Yadav in the stronghold of Yadav land. Subrata has become the MP of Kannauj by defeating Dimple Yadav. In such a situation, before the Lok Sabha elections, BJP can bet on Subrata.

The names of Aligarh MPs Satish Gautam, Mahesh Sharma, and Ashwani Tyagi are also in consideration. The discussion about the name of Shrikant Sharma is also intensifying. At the same time, the name of Minister of State Bhanu Pratap Verma is also in the discussion.

BJP is also trying to maintain regional and caste balance as well in the party before selection. Like, CM Yogi Adityanath comes from eastern Uttar Pradesh and is a Kshatriya. Apart from this, Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya represents the OBC face and comes from Central UP. The other deputy CM Brijesh Pathak is from the Awadh region and is a Brahmin.  So it is obvious that the post will be filled from other regions of West and Braj.  The name of Subrata Pathak, who is a Brahmin and became the MP from Kannauj, defeating Dimple Yadav, in Akhilesh’s stronghold is also doing round he may also get the post.
