Know the importance of celebrating Teej 2020 festival

Teej is an observance during the monsoon season – saawan or shraavan. It is the time when lot of things can come in life if one keeps the door open.

During the Teej 2020 festival, women all over India happily welcome the rainy season by singing and dancing, dressing in beautiful and different-colored clothes, putting mehendi on their hands and spending quality time with family and friends.

Teej festival is observed to mark the togetherness of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

As per Hindu mythology, Goddess Parvati had to go through 108 cycles of birth and rebirth before Lord Shiva finally decides to marry her.

Goddess Parvati is also called as Teej Mata and hence, Hindu women pray to Teej Mata to protect their husbands and thank her for the long life of their husbands.

Many women prepare coconut laddus, sabudana kheera, aloo halwa and ghewar to eat during Teej festival.
