Hartalika Teej is a festival celebrated by woman all over India to pray to the Lord to get blessings for the long lives of their husbands.
On this auspicious day, married women perform prayers to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
Teej refers to monsoon festival that is happening all over the country.
In 2020, Hartalika Teej is observed today, on 21 August 2020.
Teej comes after three days after the new moon or the Amavasya.
As per mythology, Goddess Parvati who was the daughter of Himalaya was incarnated as Goddess Shailaputri.
It is believed that Goddess Parvati made Shiv Lingam out of her hair to pray to the Lord Shiva.
Lord Shiva became really happy with the commitment and dedication and thus, finally agrees to marry Goddess Parvati.
