Significance of Navratri festival 2020, Day 5

The fifth day of Navratri festival is celebrated on 21st October 2020. The festival observes the worship of Goddess Skandamata who is the fifth form of NavaDurga.

Lord Kartikeya is the eldest son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. As Mata Parvati is the mother of Lord Kartikeya who is also called as Lord Skanda, she came to be known as Skandamata.

Skandamata is also called as Padmasana or Skanda Devi. She provides devotees with salvation, power, prosperity and treasures. It is believed that worshipping Skandamata is like getting all the genuine desires of devotees fulfilled.

Mantra of Skandamata Puja:

Simhasanagata Nityam Padmanchita Karadvaya,
Shubhadastu Sada Devi Skandamata Yashasvini.
Ya Devi Sarvabhuteshu Ma Skandamata Rupena Samsthita,
Namastasyai Namastasyai Namastasyai Namo Namah.

Color of clothes / saree to wear on the fifth day of Navratri is YELLOW.

We pray that Skandamata blesses everyone with happiness and peace in life.
