News Desk – A plane from Saurya Airlines crashed right after takeoff at an airport in Kathmandu, Nepal today. Sadly, 18 of the 19 people on the plane died. The plane was going to Pokhara.
Rescue teams, including police and firefighters, came quickly to help. The only person who survived, the pilot, was taken to the hospital.
The plane was a type called Bombardier CRJ 200, and it’s the only kind this airline uses. Flying is very important in Nepal for moving goods and people.
However, flying there can be risky because the planes and pilots don’t always have everything they need to be safe. Because of these safety issues, European countries won’t allow planes from Nepal to fly in their airspace.
Plane crashes happen too often in Nepal. There has been about one crash each year since 2010. This includes some very sad accidents, like one in January 2023 when a plane crashed near Pokhara and all 72 people on it died.
