At the assembly of 54 BJP MLAs at the party’s state headquarters in Raipur, Vishnu Deo Sai was chosen as the legislative party’s leader.

Vishnu Deo Sai, a former president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has been named the new chief minister of the state of Chhattisgarh. The first tribal head of state will be Sai, who will succeed Congressman Bhupesh Baghel. During the gathering of 54 BJP MLAs at the state headquarters of the party, Kushabhau Thakre Parisar, in Raipur, Sai was chosen as the leader of the party’s legislative branch, according to a party official.

I will work to implement Prime Minister Modi’s assurances (the BJP’s pre-election pledges) as chief minister. Sai stated following the appointment that the first task would be to sanction 18 lakh houses to the housing scheme’s beneficiaries.

Union ministers Arjun Munda and Sarbananda Sonowal, party general secretary Dushyant Kumar Gautam, Om Mathur, the party’s in-charge of Chhattisgarh, Union minister Mansukh Mandaviya, and party co-in-charge of the state, Nitin Nabin, were among the three observers from the party who attended the meeting.

Renuka Singh, a member of parliament (MP), Raman Singh, a former chief minister, senior party leader, and legislator OP Chaudhary, were among the others involved in the conflict. Party leaders stated that the organization favored a senior, knowledgeable leader with a tribal background. There is a message for tribes regarding the 2024 elections in his appointment.

According to a senior BJP leader, the fact that the BJP won the Bastar region also indicates that the tribal people trust Prime Minister Modi. The BJP won all 14 of the region’s segments, and Sai has been elected as an MLA from the Kunkuri seat in the Surguja division.

Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet in the 16th Lok Sabha, he had been the minister of state. When the BJP recognized its organization following the election of the Congress Party to power in Chhattisgarh in 2018, Sai was named the party’s state president. In addition, he is a member of the BJP’s national working committee. He refrained from running in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Arun Rao succeeded Sai as state president in 2022. Sai, the party’s nominee for the Kunkauri Tribal seat in 2923, won with a margin of 25,54 votes.

The recently held Assembly elections saw the BJP win 54 of the 90 seats, while the Congress, which had previously won 68 seats in 2018, saw its number of seats drop to 35. One seat was earned by the Gondwana Gantantra Party (GGP). December 3 marked the announcement of the results.
