Saharanpur (UP): The Darul Uloom in Deoband has advised the families to plan any function only when during holidays when the institution remains closed, official sources said on Sunday. The students will be able to attend family functions, like weddings, held during the closure of the seminary.
According to the head of the education department Hussain Ahmad, if the families think that the presence of a student concerned is necessary at a particular function, they should plan the event when the institution is closed for holidays. Otherwise, it affects their studies, because for a student, 75% attendance is a must, he said.
An office order issued in connection with the decision has been pasted on the notice board of the institution. The management of the institution has also advised the students to talk to their parents about the issue and reasons for issuing such an order.
The education had issued an order prohibiting a student from getting involved in any commercial activity or part-time businesses. It was said that any student found involved in such activities would lose education grants, free food and lodging. Such students may also be suspended and expelled from the institution.
