Gorakhpur (UP): Four persons were killed and another was injured in a road accident in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh, the police said on Tuesday. The accident occurred when two motorcycles collided head on near the district headquarters.
According to reports, a man identified as Sundaram, with two friends Ajit and Sunny, was going to his home at Bhathat on a two-wheeler. His bike collided head-on with another bike that was coming from the opposite direction. A youth identified as Anand was driving the two-wheeler and his friend Annu was riding pillion.
Immediately after the accident, all the four were rushed to the Gorakhpur Medical College. Ajit, Anand and Annu died on the spot and Sunny in the hospital. The condition of Sundaram, who is under treatment, is critical.
According to station house officer of the Gorakhpur police station Anand Kumar Gupta, the bodies were sent for autopsy and the family members of the four youths have been informed about the accident.
