Patna: A law-maker of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Anil Sahani, convicted by a special CBI court in the LTC scam in 2013, has lost his membership of the House on Saturday. Sahani was elected from Kudhni in Muzaffarpur, sources said. Sahani, who was a member of the Janata Dal (United) in the Rajya Sabha from 2010 to 2018, availed LTC amount through fraudulent means.
The special CBI court sentenced Sahani to three years’ imprisonment. The then traffic superintendent of Air India and Arvind Tiwari were also found guilty of fraud. The court sentenced both of them to two years jail and imposed a fine of Rs 3.25 lakh on each of them.
According to reports, Sahani submitted fake e-tickets and boarding purposes and took a sum of Rs 23, 71,000. On October 31, 2013, the CBI registered an FIR against him and other officials, after the vigilance department had transferred the case to the CBI. A special court of the CBI held him guilty of committing fraud, so the secretary in charge of the Bihar Vidhan Sabha Pawan Kumar Pandey cancelled his membership.
