During interrogation of the arrested activists, the police wormed out information about how they were being trained. The activists said they had been divided into small groups for the training held in different parts of Uttar Pradesh; besides, they attended lectures delivered by religious leaders. The purpose was to engineer violence in the country.

Lucknow: The arrest of activists belonging to the Popular Front of India (PFI) and its outfits, revealed the front’s sinister designs to engineer violence in the country. Its members were being imparted training in how to handle the police and the media, official sources said on Sunday. During interrogation, the police came to know how they were divided into small groups and trained in different parts of Uttar Pradesh. Besides, they attended lectures delivered by religious leaders to get motivated.

They were also informed about the policies of various media houses so that they could reply to the questions raised by journalists, sources said. Faizan, Rehan and Dilshad, arrested by the Special Task force of Uttar Pradesh from Lucknow on September 27, revealed PFI’s sinister designs. The PFI mastermind and religious speaker Mohd Ahmad Beg Nadvi designed various training modules and recruited the activists. Nadvi was arrested on September 23.

There were local commanders who trained the activists in self-defence. A village near Bakshi-ka-Talab area in Lucknow was one of the training centres where Rehman was trained.
