New Delhi: The High Court on Wednesday observed that public must not be misled by making statements against allopathy. The court observation came when it was dealing with a petition related to Baba Ramdev’s “Coronil.”  The court said, “You are welcome to have your followers, you are welcome to have your disciples, who will believe whatever you said. But please do not mislead the public at large by saying what is more than what the official,” Justice Anup J Bhambhani orally remarked.

Several doctors’ associations have filed the petition in which they have said that Ramdev’s public statements affect them as Coronil does not cure covid-19 and such statements are misleading. Representing the doctors’ associations, senior lawyer Akhil Sibal, said that Patanjali’s Coronil product was claimed as a cure for covid-19, but it did not provide any authenticity for the claim. Nor was there any licence for it, Sibal said. The court will hear the case on August 23.  In an earlier hearing of the case, Sibal said, “Patanjali website claims that Coronil is a treatment for Covid-19.”
