Navratri is such a special occasion that every woman feels on cloud nine because she gets to dress up well, prepare amazing dishes, meet her friends, welcome guests in the house, decorate the puja pandals of Gods and Goddesses at home. Sharad Navratri is indeed a very auspicious festival as it has significance for each day. Today we will discuss the third day of the festival, which is celebrated on 9th October 2021, Saturday.
Devotees throng Himachal temples as Navratri begins
Goddess Chandraghanta, also regarded as Suhag ki Devi is worshipped on the third day of the festival. Women wear saffron color dresses or sarees on this day to celebrate the functions. Maa Chandraghanta is the third form of Durga Maa riding on a tiger. It is believed that wearing saffron or yellow or red or milky colored clothes makes Maa happy and she blesses her devotees to be happy.

Maa Chandraghanta is the married form of Goddess Parvati and she promotes dharma and justice all over the world. Chandra means moon and Ghanta means the Goddess who has lots of knowledge, power, bravery, and courage. Maa Chandraghanta is shown to be sitting on a lion and holding a Gada, sword, Kamandal, Trishul, Dhanush, jap mala in one hand and lotus in the other hand.
It is also said that Chandraghanta Maa encourages devotees to fight against the demons that come in the form of obstacles in their lives. Maa gives devotees the needed strength to establish dharma and peace in the world. The mantra to recite on this day is:
