As part of his India trip to address the climate issue, US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate Change John Kerry met with Union Power Minister RK Singh in New Delhi. Kerry is in India for an official visit from September 12 to 14.
According to a release from the US State Department, the US special envoy will meet with Indian colleagues and private sector executives to discuss measures to boost global climate ambition and accelerate India’s clean energy transition.

The Climate Action and Finance Mobilisation Dialog (CAFMD), one of the two main trails outlined at the Leaders’ Summit on Climate 2011, by President Biden and Prime Minister Modi. The special envoy’s visit will boost US bilateral and multilateral climate efforts ahead of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC26th)’s Conference of the Parties (COP26), which will take place in Glasgow, Scotland.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously proposed an India-US climate and renewable energy cooperation to aid in the mobilization of investments and facilitate green partnerships. Other developing nations that require affordable access to green finance and clean technology may benefit from these initiatives. Last month, Prime Minister Modi spoke at a virtual Leaders’ Summit on Climate Change organized by the United States.
