Hyderabad: Thirty women were shifted to different hospitals after the death of four females who underwent Double Puncture Laparoscopy (DPL) at a family planning surgery camp at Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district, sources said on Wednesday. The condition of those 30 women was stable.

Thirteen women were shifted to Apollo Hospital and 17 were admitted to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad. Two of the 17 women were kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at NIMS, because they were physically weak, sources further said. Meanwhile, Telangana health minister T Harish Rao visited NIMS Hospital and met the patients. He said that there was no need for concern, as they were safe and to be discharged in three days. Government was providing the best treatment to the women, he said.

Earlier, four women died, because they developed complications, after the DPL surgery at a female sterilisation camp. The camp was organised at a Civil Hospital in Ibrahimpatnam in Ranga Reddy district on August 25.
