New Delhi: The plan for free travel of women in the Delhi Metro is once again in the news. After the historic victory in the Delhi Assembly, Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot in the Aam Aadmi Party government claims that his government is committed to the free travel of women in the metro and he will continue talks with the central government in this regard.

Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot said that the Aam Aadmi Party government is working on this plan. He also said that the Delhi government will continue to negotiate with the central government for permission to implement this scheme.

Like earlier, the minister also claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi will bear the entire cost of the scheme and we will pay the entire cost in this regard to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.

DMRC has given its proposal for the free travel of women in the metro in the year 2019. Aam Aadmi Party government has already agreed to the proposal proposed by the Metro in its proposal for the budget.

The Delhi government had said in the proposal that the free travel scheme in Delhi Metro for free will increase the number of women passengers by 50 percent. Currently, 30 percent of women travel in the metro, after the implementation of the scheme it will be 50 percent.
