Former BSP MLC booked for issuing fake degrees

Saharanpur: A former Member of the Legislative Council of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Haji Iqbal has been booked for issuing fake degrees from a private university, the police said on Tuesday. A case was registered against four others in connection with the case. The case came to light after a resident of Rohtak in Haryana complained to the police alleging that the BSP leader’s Glocal University was issuing fake degrees.

According to official sources, Iqbal founded the university in 2012. On the grounds of the complaint, circle officer Munish Chand probed the case and found that the university issued fake degrees in 2021. The police registered against the accused. A case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act was already slammed on Iqbal who is carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head. The police have launched a search for him.
