Bijnor: A woman’s attempt to elope with her paramour after disposing of her six-month-old child landed her at police station in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh, official sources said on Friday. The 27-year-old woman reportedly asked her nine-year-old daughter to throw the baby into a drain at Luhari Sarai locality in Nageena town earlier this week, the police said.

After throwing the baby into the drain, the woman had cooked up a yarn, saying that two bike-borne youths snatched the baby from her daughter and sped away. Nevertheless, when the police sifted through the CCTV footage, they saw the woman walk with her nine-year-old daughter by the drain. The girl put the six-month-old into the drain in which sewage water flows. The woman was charged with committing murder and sent to jail. Her husband works for a company in Saudi Arabia.
