Budaun: The Budaun police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a man who raped and murdered a minor Dalit girl in a village in the district on Saturday. The accused has been identified as Jitendra Yadav who works for the electricity department on contractual basis.
According to reports, the body of the 15-year-old girl was found near a railway line under Faizganj Behata police station on Saturday morning. The family members of the girl alleged that the police sent the body for post mortem without informing them and that their house is not very far from the spot where the body was found.
The girl’s parents said that the police had never told them that the girl had been violated before being murdered. The cops simply said that the girl had lost her life in an accident and that they should come and identify the body. The family members then put up the issue before the senior superintendent of police OP Singh who reached the spot and told the officials to file a case.
According to Singh, a case of murder and rape has been registered against the culprit under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. When Yadav was quizzed, he said that he had abducted the girl when she was returning home on Friday night and took her to an isolated place where he violated her. After that, he murdered the girl to hide evidence.
