New Delhi: Before the Rajya Sabha elections in Gujarat, the Congress is trying to protect its MLAs from horse trading. For which all these MLAs are staying in the resorts. In the midst of all this, the police in Rajkot have registered an FIR against the resort that accommodated some Congress MLAs. The police have taken action against these MLAs for allegedly violating the lockdown rules.
Police has registered a case against the owner and manager of Nilcity Resort under Section 188 of the IPC for violation of a government order. Hotels in the state are prohibited from opening till June 8. But the MLAs were stopped at the resort before that.
A Congress leader said that majority of the 65 MLAs have reached various resorts. BJP is trying to buy MLAs. Elections are to be held in four seats of the Rajya Sabha on June 19 in the state. In the 182-member Gujarat Assembly, the number of Congress MLAs has come down to 65. Three Congress MLAs resigned recently.
The Congress has kept 15 of its MLAs in a hotel in Anand in Gujarat itself. Congress leader Bharat Singh Solanki has been given the responsibility of taking out the MLAs. The legislators were housed at the Arius Riverside Resort before being sent to Anand. Solanki also spoke to the MLAs staying at the hotel. Earlier on Saturday, some MLAs of Gujarat Congress also reached Wildwinds Resort on Abu Road in Rajasthan.
