Safura Zargar got bail from High Court

New Delhi: Safura Zargar, a pregnant student of Jamia Millia Islamia, arrested in Delhi violence case, has got bail from Delhi High Court. He was arrested under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) for inciting communal violence. Safura Zargar is also a member of the Jamia Coordination Committee. While granting bail, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta on behalf of the Center did not protest on humanitarian grounds.

Justice Rajeev Shakadhar of the Delhi High Court heard the case on Tuesday through video conferencing. 23-week pregnant Safura has been granted bail on a personal bond of Rs 10,000. The court has directed Safura Zargar not to be involved in any kind of activities, which would hamper the investigation. Also, the court has directed Safura not to leave Delhi without permission.

The Delhi Police, in its status report, opposed Jargar’s bail plea, stating that there is a clear and concrete case against the accused woman and as such she is not entitled to bail in serious offenses, which she had planned and executed.
