Bombay High Court refuses interim bail to Arnab Goswami in abetment to suicide case

MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court on Monday refused to grant interim bail to Arnab Goswami, editor-in-chief of Republic TV channel, for abetting an interior designer to suicide.

The High Court also clarified that the accused (Goswami) can go to the lower court for this and the concerned court will hear their application within the time limit.

Goswami was arrested by the Maharashtra Police on November 4 from his residence. This is the case in 2018, in which an interior designer committed suicide by Goswami after she and her mother did not pay the dues. Arnab was sent to 14 days judicial custody by the local court in this case.

The High Court also said that if the accused goes to the Court of Sessions under Section 439 of the Criminal Penal Code, then it will not be taken as an impediment.
