New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday paid tributes to the country’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary and described him as a towering visionary who laid the foundation of the nation with great values of brotherhood, egalitarianism and a modern outlook.
Everyone’s endeavour must be to conserve these values, he added.
Pandit Nehru’s birth anniversary is also celebrated as the ‘children’s day’ due to his love for children and his vision for their growth and progress in life that reflected in the institutions of education that were a part of his plan for the country which attained freedom.
‘Today, India celebrates the birth anniversary of its first PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru ji: a towering visionary who laid the foundation of our country with values of brotherhood, egalitarianism & modern outlook. Our endeavour must be to conserve these values,’ Rahul said taking to Twitter.
