Lathi-charge on farmers protesting against Agri laws in Patna

Patna: Several farmers marching towards Rajbhavan in Patna in support of the ongoing protest of the farmers in Delhi against the new agricultural laws sustained injuries when the police resorted to lathi-charge upon them here today.

At the call of all India farmers agitation coordination committee the president of all India farmers Association Ashok Dhawle, its state secretary Ramadhar Singh, several leaders and supporters of left parties and other outfits associated with left ideologies took out a march to Raj Bhavan from Gandhi Maidan in the state capital today.

When the protesters arrived at Dak Bangla Chauraha the police stopped them from moving forward. However, the police which was lesser in number had to retreat.

Soon after, additional reinforcement arrived and the security personnel tried to convince the agitating farmers but in vain.

Later the police resorted to lathi-charge upon the protestors in which several of them sustained injuries.

Meanwhile, Ramadhar Singh claimed that farmers in large number from Purnia, Araria other simanchal areas East and West Champaran, Si wan and Gopalganj had joined the agitation.
