Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has exuded confidence of having the perfect machinery in place to control and restrict the possible third wave of COVID-19, as the state will be using its experience of controlling the Japanese Encephalitis.

Regarding the arrangements to tackle the third COVID wave, which the experts fear will affect children more, Adityanath, while addressing a high level meeting here on Wednesdsy, said, “Our experience in tackling the Japanese Encephalitis will help us in controlling the spread of third wave of COVID-19,” adding, “My Government has prepared an action plan to effectively check the third wave.”

A 100-bed Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) ward should be prepared in all medical colleges of the state.

The State Level Health Expert Advisory Committee has presented an assessment regarding the equipment, human resources and other requirements for the establishment of PICU. In this regard, the CM has ordered his officials to take immediate action after consulting with the committee.

“The encephalitis, which had wreaked havoc in the state, especially in the Eastern UP, for many decades, had been controlled by 95 percent,” the CM said adding, “On the basis of Encephalitis experiences, the instructions have been given to protect children from the third wave of COVID-19 by establishing PICU in every medical college.”
