New Delhi: The government today said that the process of linking passport with Aadhaar card and linking all police districts of the country in the mPassport Police app will be completed expeditiously, making passport service easier.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said this while addressing the Passport Seva Divas program here today. Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan, Secretary (CPV) Sanjay Bhattacharya, Additional Secretary and Chief Passport Officer Prabhat Kumar were present at the event.
Dr. Jaishankar said that the Ministry of External Affairs has added DigiLocker to the Passport Seva program in February this year, which is an important step towards digital transformation of passport services. With this, citizens have started getting the facility of giving documents required for passport through DigiLocker. They did not need to bring the original documents. He said, “I am confident that the process of linking passport services with Aadhaar is on, this will further ease the process of issuing passports. This work should be completed at the earliest.”

The External Affairs Minister said that 334 Police Districts and 7142 Police Stations in 19 States and Union Territories have been connected so far with the mPassport Police App, which has reduced the time taken for police verification and the process of passport issuance more smooth.
