UP Police seizes assets worth Rs 1,128 crore from January 2020 to April 2021

Lucknow: UP Police seized assets worth Rs 1128 crore from January 2020 to April 2021. The police have registered 5,558 FIRs under the Gangster Act during this period. Action was taken against 22,259 alleged criminals under the Gangster Act.

Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said that action under the Gangster Act has been taken against 22,259 alleged criminals, including members of Mukhtar Ansari, Atiq Ahmed and Sundar Bhati gangs, during this period.

According to the police statement, “25 mafia was identified across the state between January 2020 and April 2021. During this period, 5,518 FIRs were registered under the Gangster Act and illegal movable and immovable properties of the mafia and their associates worth Rs 1,128 crore were seized.

Police said 110 members of the gang of mafia-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari were arrested during this period. Ansari is presently lodged in Banda jail in the state. Similarly, action was also taken against 89 members of Atiq Ahmed’s gang who are in jail in Gujarat. He said that illegal assets worth Rs 63 crore belonging to the infamous crook of western Uttar Pradesh Sundar Bhati and his associates have been seized. Bhati is presently lodged in Sonbhadra jail. Similarly, the police have also attached property worth Rs 17 crores of Mafia Dhruv Kumar alias Kuntu Singh lodged in Ballia Jail.
