Self-reliant India Employment Scheme by 31 March next year

New Delhi: The Central Government has decided to extend the period of Self-Reliant India Employment Scheme from June 30, 2021 to March 31, 2022.

The proposal to this effect was approved in the meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Wednesday.

After the meeting, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar told in a press conference that the Union Cabinet has decided to extend the last date of registration of beneficiaries under Atmanirbhar Bharat Rozgar Yojana (ABRY) by nine months i.e. from June 30, 2021 to March 31, 2022. has approved. This expansion will now create 71.8 lakh jobs in the formal sector, as against the earlier estimate of 58.5 lakh jobs.

It is noteworthy that till June 18, 2021, benefits worth Rs 902 crore have been provided to 21.42 lakh beneficiaries through 79,557 establishments under ABRY. He said that the estimated expenditure of the scheme would be Rs 22,098 crore including the expenditure for the proposed extended period of registration till March 31, 2022.
